The Ice-O-Matic GEM0956A90 is a 21-inch modular Pearl Ice® machine head that makes up to 928 pounds of soft, chewable nugget ice a day at 70°F air and 50°F water (683 lbs at 90°F air and 70°F water). Running on 208-230 volts, it is aimed at high-volume restaurants, hospitals and convenience stores that need close to 1,000 pounds of soft nugget ice a day from the same compact 21-inch footprint, and it is the most energy-efficient model in the line at 70°F air and 50°F water.

Pearl Ice is nugget-style ice, about 1/2" x 3/8". It cools drinks fast, holds their flavor, is easy to chew and packs well for blended drinks, healthcare and food displays. Making it uses less water and power than making cube ice.

This A90 model uses R290 refrigerant. A load-monitoring system checks the gearbox workload and shuts the machine down before a problem develops. A water sensor protects against low or no water. The evaporator and auger are stainless steel, the industrial-grade double roller bearings need no maintenance, and the gearbox is heavy duty. A built-in non-contact ice detection system shuts the machine off when the bin is full.

Ice bin sold separately: this is an ice machine head only, with no storage. It pairs well with a 30-inch B700-30 (680 lb) bin or a 48-inch B1000-48 (1,000 lb) bin, neither of which needs a kit, or with a B110 (854 lb) bin using the KBT23 bin top. Check the bin chart on the spec sheet to see which bins need an Ice-O-Matic bin top kit. Dispenser installations need an adapter kit; the KGEMDISPB ice level control kit is available for dispensers (confirm the adapter with the dispenser manufacturer).

Installation: 208-230V/60/1, 9.3 A minimum circuit ampacity, 15 A maximum breaker. 3/8" FPT potable water inlet and 3/4" FPT drain. Operates in 50-100°F air with 40-100°F water at 20-80 psi. The machine is air-cooled, so it needs no condenser water; keep the front and rear air paths clear. Ice-O-Matic recommends the IFQ1-FS water filter system with IOMQ-FS replacement cartridges (sold separately).

Warranty: Ice-O-Matic warrants the ice maker for 3 years parts and labor and the compressor for 5 years parts.
