The Koolaire KDT1700A is a 48-inch modular cube ice machine, a Koolaire "Kuber" built by Manitowoc. It makes up to 1,652 pounds of ice in 24 hours at 70°F air and 50°F water, and about 1,326 pounds at 90°F air and 70°F water. The KT1700 is Koolaire's 48-inch Kuber and its highest-capacity machine, for banquet kitchens, stadiums, hotels and other sites that need more than three-quarters of a ton of ice a day.

It makes Koolaire's full-size Kube, a 7/8" x 7/8" x 7/8" dice cube. The square cube is slow to melt and fills a glass evenly, a good all-round choice for soft drinks, iced tea, water service and mixed drinks.

This is the air-cooled version, so no condenser water line is needed; it puts about 23,400 BTU/hr of heat into the room on average (25,200 BTU/hr at peak), so plan ventilation accordingly. Koolaire rates it at 4.70 kWh per 100 lbs of ice at 90°F air / 70°F water and about 20 gallons of potable water per 100 lbs of ice. Power is 208-230/60/1 with an 18.1 amp minimum circuit and 30 amp maximum fuse. Note this model needs a 208-230 volt single-phase circuit. Refrigerant is R410A.

Matching Koolaire bins: per Koolaire's K-Series bin chart, the KT1700 sits directly on the K970 (882 lb, 48" wide) bin. Bins and adapters are sold separately.

Manitowoc bins: Koolaire lists the K483048 adapter for the 48-inch Kuber on a Manitowoc F1300 bin and the K603048 for the F1325 or F1650. Koolaire notes that a 48-inch Kuber on a Manitowoc F-style bin also needs its K0034900 ice deflector.

Water filter: filtered water keeps scale off the evaporator and makes clearer, better-tasting ice. The matching filter for this model is the 3M CUNO ICE190-S ice machine water filter system, with the HF90-S replacement cartridge for change-outs. Both are sold separately.

Koolaire warranty: Koolaire's limited commercial warranty covers the ice maker for three (3) years parts and labor, the evaporator for five (5) years parts and labor, and the compressor for five (5) years parts and three (3) years labor.
