The Koolaire KYP0420A is a 22-inch modular cube ice machine, a Koolaire "Kuber" built by Manitowoc. It makes up to 437 pounds of ice in 24 hours at 70°F air and 50°F water, and about 336 pounds at 90°F air and 70°F water. The KP0420 is the 22-inch Kuber, Koolaire's narrow head for kitchens and bars where a 30-inch machine will not fit. It still makes well over 400 pounds a day on 115 volts.

It makes Koolaire's Half Kube, a 3/8" x 1-1/8" x 7/8" half-dice cube. The thinner cube packs tightly in cups, cools drinks fast and is the usual pick for fountain beverages, blended drinks and dispensers.

This is the air-cooled version, so no condenser water line is needed; it puts about 7,515 BTU/hr of heat into the room on average (8,905 BTU/hr at peak), so plan ventilation accordingly. Koolaire rates it at 5.92 kWh per 100 lbs of ice at 90°F air / 70°F water and about 13.55 gallons of potable water per 100 lbs of ice. Power is 115/60/1 with a 12 amp minimum circuit and 20 amp maximum fuse. It runs on standard 115-volt power. Refrigerant is R290.

Matching Koolaire bins: per Koolaire's K-Series bin chart, the KP0420 sits directly on the K420 (383 lb, 22" wide) bin; it also fits the K400 (365 lb, 30" wide) with the K00472 bin adapter; K570 (532 lb, 30" wide) with the K00472 bin adapter; K970 (882 lb, 48" wide) with the K00473 bin adapter. Bins and adapters are sold separately.

Water filter: filtered water keeps scale off the evaporator and makes clearer, better-tasting ice. The matching filter for this model is the 3M CUNO ICE120-S ice machine water filter system, with the HF20-S replacement cartridge for change-outs. Both are sold separately.

Koolaire warranty: Koolaire's limited commercial warranty covers the ice maker for three (3) years parts and labor, the evaporator for five (5) years parts and labor, and the compressor for five (5) years parts and three (3) years labor.
